Contribution Of Guidestar UK To The Charitable Sector

EDM number 1552 in 2005-06, proposed by Janet Dean on 01/02/2006.

That this House congratulates the successful launch of the charity information website www.guidestar.org.uk; notes that for the first time there will be a single, easily accessible source of detailed information about the 167,000 charities in England and Wales; further recognises the important contribution Guidestar UK is making to the voluntary sector by increasing trust and public confidence in charities through enhanced transparency and the removal of barriers to charitable giving and volunteering at national, regional and local levels; considers that Guidestar UK is a public asset; and calls on the Government to provide continued financial support to enable Guidestar UK to fulfil its public interest benefits.

This motion has been signed by a total of 56 MPs.
