Investment In Public Services And Infrastructure
EDM number 1659 in 2005-06, proposed by David Taylor on 15/02/2006.
That this House recognises the importance of the construction industry to the UK's economic success and the role it plays in delivering new and improved public buildings and infrastructure, enabling continued economic growth and prosperity for all; welcomes the Construction Products Association's recent report, Achievable Targets, as a useful and timely review of the Government's targets and its progress towards delivering new and refurbished hospitals, schools, housing, roads, railways and water infrastructure; notes that the public and industry recognise the importance of ongoing investment, in particular to provide much needed new housing whilst also improving existing social housing stock, and to upgrade the country's transport infrastructure; and therefore urges the Government to ensure delivery of its targets in these crucial areas.
