CELEBRATIONS FOR ST GEORGE'S DAY

EDM number 1985 in 2005-06, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 19/04/2006.

That this House looks forward to celebrating St George's Day on Sunday 23rd April; notes that the day of England's Patron Saint is an ideal opportunity for all English people to celebrate their country's heritage, values and traditions; calls upon the Government to mark the occasion by ensuring that the Cross of St. George is flown from all public buildings on this day; encourages all local authorities, schools, organisations and businesses also proudly to fly the English flag above their buildings; and further calls on all hon. Members to support the campaign to make 23rd April an official annual public holiday so that all the people of England may be united in celebrating the country's achievements and traditions.
