Advertising On BBC News International Website

EDM number 2655 in 2005-06, proposed by John McDonnell on 25/07/2006.

That this House notes with concern proposals to place advertisements on the BBC News International website; believes that the use of advertisements threatens fundamentally to undermine public service broadcasting by opening the door to commercial influence and that it will damage the BBC's reputation as an impartial news provider; and therefore calls on the BBC's management to abandon plans to place advertisements on the BBC News International website.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
