Maximum Working Temperatures

EDM number 2692 in 2005-06, proposed by Alan Meale on 10/10/2006.

That this House is aware of climate change and its effects on average temperatures and recognises that this has caused and is causing many workers to experience more regular excessive heat patterns at work throughout the year; notes that currently in the UK regulations exist which apply minimum temperatures at the workplace; believes that, in the light of worsening circumstances, it is now time to set clear standards on the maximum levels of heat, humidity and temperature restricted air flows people should be made to work in; and calls upon the Government to instruct the Health and Safety Executive to enter immediately into meaningful discussions with the Trades Union Congress and the General Federation of Trade Unions to find an acceptable legislative solution to this serious problem.

This motion has been signed by a total of 57 MPs.
