Role Of The Post Office Network

That this House notes with grave concern recent remarks by Baroness Amos that she cannot remember the last time she was in a post office but that `it is nice to know that they are there'; believes comments like these are indicative of Government Ministers' lack of understanding of post offices and the vital role they play in many people's lives; notes that over four million people have signed a petition to highlight concerns over the future of the Post Office network; and urges the Government to give a firm assurance that this network will not be jeopardised.
