Tynwald Day

EDM number 522 in 2005-06, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 06/07/2005.

That this House salutes the people of the Isle of Man as they celebrate their national day this week, upholding centuries of proud tradition; notes that the Manx annual Tynwald ceremony dates back over 1,000 years; recognises that the Tynwald is the oldest continuous Parliament in the world, dating back to 800 A.D.; and looks forward to the people of this unique British Crown dependency enjoying a further 1,000 years of self-government and home rule, whilst retaining the special link with the United Kingdom.

This motion has been signed by a total of 36 MPs.
