Olympic Bid

EDM number 526 in 2005-06, proposed by Diane Abbott on 06/07/2005.

That this House congratulates Lord Coe and the 2012 bid team in winning the Olympics for London; recognises the fantastic job the team did in securing the event against four of the world's greatest cities; welcomes the opportunities that the occasion will bring, in particular for the creation of long-term employment and economic development of London, along with the improvement of infrastructure in the city, and the boost for tourism; celebrates the plans to revive the deprived area of the East of London where most of the venues will be built; hopes that the games will bring an enhancement to British culture and sports; and looks forward to the UK hosting one of the greatest sporting events in the world.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
