Provision Of Public Toilets

EDM number 568 in 2005-06, proposed by Bob Spink on 12/07/2005.

That this House considers the provision of public toilets to be a vital public service and notes with regret the increasing tendency to close public toilets, and particularly the closures across Castle Point; recognises that these closures have a very serious impact on older people, disabled people and those with young families; further notes the recent National Consumer Council survey of 2,000 adults, which branded the UK's public toilets a national disgrace; and calls on the Government to enable and encourage Castle Point Borough Council in particular and all councils in general to provide and properly to maintain a decent range of public toilets and to make the provision of public toilets a statutory duty for local authorities.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
