Mind Your Heart Programme

EDM number 722 in 2005-06, proposed by Mark Williams on 11/10/2005.

That this House notes that coronary heart disease and cancers are major causes of mortality in Wales and throughout the UK; further notes that people who experience enduring mental health problems have a potentially higher risk of developing coronary heart disease, as a result of a number of factors including resistance to health messages, side effects of medication and treatment, social exclusion and poverty, plus a higher incidence of smoking; congratulates the Mind Your Heart programme in Ceredigion, which co-ordinates existing networks, and provides training to help tackle the problem; and calls upon the Government to encourage similar schemes across the United Kingdom.

This motion has been signed by a total of 71 MPs.
