Availability Of Freesat

EDM number 1025 in 2006-07, proposed by Timothy Farron on 02/03/2007.

That this House notes the provisional approval of a Freesat service by the BBC Trust; welcomes the fact that this offers the first opportunity for the many viewers in households which have difficulty in receiving a Freeview signal, often in rural and coastal communities, to enjoy the benefits of digital television, on an affordable basis, without having to pay a subscription; and calls upon the other public service broadcasters, ITV, Channel Four, Five and S4C, to join the BBC in making their services available on Freesat.

This motion has been signed by a total of 46 MPs.
