30th Anniversary Of Sustrans

EDM number 1832 in 2006-07, proposed by Bob Russell on 03/07/2007.

That this House congratulates Sustrans on the charity's 30th anniversary on 7th July; notes that the National Cycle Network now passes within a mile of 50 per cent. of the population, and that during 2006 more than 338 million trips were taken on it; recognises that Safe Routes to Schools, Bike It, TravelSmart, Active Travel and all Sustrans' projects are creating the right environment to enable many more people to travel in ways that benefit both their health and the environment; welcomes Sustrans' future plans to encourage many more people to walk and cycle for everyday journeys with projects such as Connect2; and urges the Government to offer all possible support to Sustrans as part of its commitment to a healthier, more active population and a low carbon economy.

This motion has been signed by a total of 51 MPs.
