Work Of Staff In The Civil Service And Non-Departmental Public Bodies

EDM number 530 in 2006-07, proposed by John McDonnell on 18/12/2006.

That this House recognises the hard work done by members of the Public and Commercial Services Union to deliver Government policies in the Civil Service and across the public sector; is concerned that the headcount reduction may be leading to deteriorating services; shares the union's concerns that those staff who wish to continue their career in the Civil Service or non-departmental public bodies (NDPB) should be able to do so; believes that there must be negotiation and agreement with trade unions before any further outsourcing or privatisation take place and that there needs to be measurable progress made towards a fair and cohesive Civil Service and NDPB pay system; and therefore urges the Government to negotiate with the union to achieve a mutually acceptable solution.

This motion has been signed by a total of 90 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
