60th Anniversary Of Sports Report

EDM number 1098 in 2007-08, proposed by Bob Russell on 03/03/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Broadcasting, Media and Sports.

That this House congratulates the BBC Radio Saturday tea-time programme Sports Report on its 60th Anniversary; recognises that the programme, with its distinctive signature tune, is a national institution which provides a sense of purpose and tradition in an era of huge changes in professional football; pays tribute to all those who have been involved throughout the past 60 years, with particular mention of James Alexander Gordon who has been reading the classified results for 34 years, and Stuart Hall whose match reports are linguistic gems; and wishes Sports Report continued success as it embarks on its seventh decade as the BBC's flagship radio sports programme.

This motion has been signed by a total of 42 MPs.
