GEORGIA'S DEMOCRATIC DEVELOPMENT

EDM number 1655 in 2007-08, proposed by Nigel Evans on 02/06/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Eastern Europe, Elections and Electoral franchise.

That this House welcomes the progress made in Georgia's democratic development; notes that international observers have concluded that the recent parliamentary elections showed further progress but that there is still much to be done; calls on the Georgian government and the Central Election Commission to deal quickly and transparently with all complaints and violations of electoral law; encourages all parties to make their views known peacefully, within the law and the democratic framework, and to take up the opportunity provided by the seats they have won in parliament to participate in the political process in good faith; and further encourages all stakeholders to continue the search for a peaceful resolution of the conflicts so that Georgia can continue to develop as a modern, European country.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
