Hm Revenue And Customs Office Closures (No.2)

EDM number 1893 in 2007-08, proposed by Timothy Farron on 25/06/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Civil Service, Employment and Taxation.

That this House notes with concern Government proposals to close HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) offices in Barrow, Kendal and Lancaster; is concerned that this would leave people and businesses across a massive area in the north west of England without access to these services; appreciates the high level of service by HMRC staff in these offices; recognises the difficulties of staff in finding another place of work within reasonable travelling distance; and calls on the Government to suspend the closure plans and conduct a full socio-economic review of the impact on the area affected by these proposals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
