That this House notes with concern that Tesco supermarket has advertised Carlsberg lager at the reduced price of Â£5 for 18 bottles; further notes newspaper reports that the offer has caused chaos in many stores with people rushing to take advantage of the cheap alcohol; fears that further such action by other supermarkets will spark a high street beer war; is concerned about the effect of such prices on consumers' health, NHS resources and the future of the pub industry; and calls on the Government to encourage supermarkets to adopt a responsible pricing policy.
