Oecd Report On Inequality
EDM number 2324 in 2007-08, proposed by Martin Caton on 22/10/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Economic situation and Incomes and poverty.
That this House welcomes the report from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) showing that the gap between rich and poor in the UK narrowed in the first five years of this century; notes, however, that it still found this country to be a more unequal society than three quarters of OECD nations; and agrees with the OECD secretary general that growing inequality is divisive, polarizes society, divides regions and carves up the world between rich and poor.
