Lady Victoria Colliery And The Scottish Mining Museum

EDM number 564 in 2007-08, proposed by David Hamilton on 12/12/2007.
Categorised under the topics of Coal and Cultural heritage.

That this House congratulates the Lady Victoria Colliery, which is now home to the Scottish Mining Museum, on being voted Scotland's most treasured place by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland; notes that the colliery employed 2,000 miners at its peak and that is is now the last surviving colliery from Scotland's vast mining industry; further notes that the Scottish Mining Museum provides a unique insight into Scotland's social and economic history; and hopes that it continues to educate people of all ages about the contribution mining has made to Scotland's heritage.

This motion has been signed by a total of 53 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
