Bt's Surcharge On Telephone Bills

EDM number 2149 in 2008-09, proposed by Peter Kilfoyle on 26/10/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Telecommunications.

That this House condemns as absurd and unwarranted the £9 surcharge imposed on each BT bill where the customer does not pay by direct debit or by BT's payment plan; notes the bizarre justification that it is to pay BT for the cost of customers paying their bills; believes it to discriminate against poorer customers; and demands that it be withdrawn forthwith.

This motion has been signed by a total of 70 MPs.
