400th Anniversary Of The King James Bible

EDM number 2207 in 2008-09, proposed by David Simpson on 02/11/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Church and state and Religion and faith communities.

That this House recognises that aside from its religious significance and impact, the King James or Authorised Version of the Bible has made an immense positive, social, political, cultural and literary contribution to the United Kingdom; further recognises the positive impact that the Authorised Version has had across the world; notes that 2011 will mark the 400th anniversary of the Authorised Version; welcomes the advance commitment of the BBC to mark this anniversary on radio, television and online; and calls on the Department for Culture, Media and Sport officially to mark this significant anniversary.
