Campaign For Lighter Evenings

EDM number 338 in 2008-09, proposed by Greg Knight on 17/12/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Leisure and Standards.

That this House notes the growing support for the campaign for lighter evenings; recognises that by moving to a system of Single and Double Summer Time the UK would have lighter evenings and time parity with our European neighbours which would provide considerable road safety, health, business, leisure and energy usage advantages; further notes that the campaign has the support of organisations such as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, Association of Leading Visitor Attractions, the Child Accident Prevention Trust and the Automobile Association; and calls on the Government to introduce a trial period in order to make better use of daylight hours and energy resources and assess the advantages.

This motion has been signed by a total of 31 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
