Sources Of Pollution In Nitrate Vulnerable Zones

EDM number 630 in 2008-09, proposed by Timothy Farron on 29/01/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Agriculture and environment and Pollution.

That this House notes the impact of the implementation of the Nitrate Vulnerable Zones Directive on farmers in those zones, including increased costs and huge inconvenience; further notes that higher nitrate levels in many bodies of water may originate from non-farming sources such as utility companies whose sewerage outlets may be responsible; and urges the Government to delay implementing the Directive until the sources of pollution can be determined and to ensure that utility companies and others who are responsible, carry the appropriate costs.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
