Self-Employed Members Of The Territorial Army

EDM number 988 in 2008-09, proposed by Tim Loughton on 04/03/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Armed forces.

That this House recognises the enormous contribution and sacrifice made by the Territorial Army (TA) in relation to current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan especially; acknowledges the immense debt of gratitude owed to them and their families; further notes that a number of TA personnel are self-employed and have returned from long tours of duty to find greatly diminished employment prospects; and calls on the Government to acknowledge the particular circumstances of this overlooked group of servicemen and servicewomen who do not have the security of employers who have kept their jobs open, and be sensitive to their needs and offer help.

This motion has been signed by a total of 49 MPs.
