Methadrone And Related Substances
EDM number 1118 in 2009-10, proposed by John Mann on 17/03/2010.
Categorised under the topics of Crime and Drugs misuse.
That this House notes that selling mephedrone, methadrone, methylone or related cathinone derivatives is illegal under the Medicines Act 1968; further notes that nevertheless, such drugs are on sale in `headshops' and online and that possession is not currently an offence; further notes that the chemicals in these drugs cause internal burns and cuts; further notes that once users have started using the drugs in a particular session, use is very hard to stop; and calls on the Government to intervene and bring forward proposals to proscribe such substances under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
