London's Part-Time Students

EDM number 1190 in 2009-10, proposed by Tom Brake on 25/03/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Students.

That this House welcomes the impact that accessible and flexible part-time higher education makes to the lives of many people in the UK; praises the particular role that Birkbeck College (University of London) plays in London and welcomes its new collaborations in the east London Borough of Newham; recognises that the part-time sector has a funding inequity of 43 per cent. by needing full-time buildings and resources yet only receiving a part-time equivalence injection of funds; and calls on the Government to ensure that cuts to the higher education budget will not be extended to the already disproportionately under-funded part-time sector.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
