Diabetes Blue Monument Challenge

That this House welcomes the number of organisations, including the Leicester Mercury, who are joining together to light iconic monuments in the internationally recognised colour for diabetes awareness, to raise the profile of this important health issue; calls on other organisations to participate in this year's International Diabetes Federation Blue Monument Challenge; recognises the significance of World Diabetes Day in the effort to raise awareness of this growing global emergency; and urges the Government to adopt strong policies promoting healthier lifestyles to combat diabetes which affects an estimated 2.6 million people in the UK and 180 million people worldwide.
