Forth Bridge World Heritage Site Status

EDM number 2641 in 2010-12, proposed by Michael Crockart on 24/01/2012.
Categorised under the topic of Cultural heritage.

That this House is pleased to note the decision by Network Rail to support a bid to win World Heritage Site status for the Forth Bridge; recognises that the inclusion of the Forth Bridge on the tentative list is a significant step in the structure's history; believes that the Forth Bridge, which was opened in 1890, is an internationally recognised symbol of the achievements of late nineteenth century engineering and one of the most renowned civil engineering feats of all time; welcomes the move by rail chiefs to look at the idea of building a viewing platform for visitors at the top of the Forth Bridge; and celebrates the Bridge's status as an immediately and internationally recognised Scottish landmark.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
