Gift Of Life Campaign

EDM number 82 in 2010-12, proposed by Timothy Farron on 26/05/2010.
Categorised under the topic of Health services.

That this House notes with great regret that only 19.5 per cent. of people in Cumbria, nearly 10 per cent. below the national average, are signed up to the organ donor register; expresses concern that there are currently 17 people waiting for organ transplants in South Lakeland; is alarmed that people can wait for up to two years for a lung transplant and more than three years for a kidney; praises the Gift of Life campaign launched by the Westmorland Gazette to tackle the huge shortage of organ donors in the region; and calls on local media outlets across the country to follow their example and help encourage more people to become organ donors by running their own Gift of Life campaign.

This motion has been signed by a total of 8 MPs.
