That this House is deeply saddened by the recent death of the world-renowned conductor Sir Colin Davis at the age of 85; appreciates his outstanding contribution to music in Britain, as the longest serving principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, and then as its president; notes that he also was renowned for his work with the Royal Opera House, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra; praises his mentorship of young performers and conductors at the Royal Academy of Music; and believes that he will be greatly missed in the UK as well as internationally.
