Development Of Obesity Vaccination

EDM number 400 in 2012-13, proposed by Keith Vaz on 16/07/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Obesity and Vaccination.

That this House welcomes the Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology's recent publication in which it was reported that a vaccination is currently under development to reduce obesity; notes that in tests, obese mice fed a high fat diet saw a 10 per cent drop in body weight four days after vaccination; further notes that this vaccination could potentially reduce obesity levels and rates of diabetes; also notes that diabetes treatment costs the NHS 1.5 million per hour; and calls on the Government to fund further research into obesity prevention or reduction.
