Detention Of Filimbi Activists In Democratic Republic Of Congo

That this House notes with concern the unjust detention of two Filimbi activists, Yves Makwambala and Fred Bauma in Kinshasa; further notes with extreme concern the increase in repression against journalists, youth leaders and opposition activists in Democratic Republic of Congo; applauds the efforts of opposition groups in highlighting this issue; and calls on the Government to make firm representations to the regime of President Kabila, and urge others in the African Union, the EU and the UN to make strong representations on unjust detentions.
