Renewable Electricity Supply For The Palace Of Westminster

EDM number 1261 in 1997-98, proposed by Andrew Robathan on 28/04/1998.

That this House recognises the importance of the role of renewable energy technologies in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and tackling the threat of dangerous climate change; welcomes the Government's aim for 10 per cent. of electricity to be generated by renewable sources by 2010 as an important step towards meeting its manifesto target of a 20 per cent. cut in carbon dioxide emissions from 1990 levels by 2010; notes that the liberalisation of the electricity market will soon enable consumers to choose to buy renewable energy; and believes that honourable Members should set an example to the country by ensuring that the electricity purchased for the Palace of Westminster comes from renewable sources.

This motion has been signed by a total of 50 MPs.
