Agent Orange

EDM number 293 in 1998-99, proposed by Oona King on 09/02/1999.

That this House notes that from 1965 onwards Agent Orange was used by Americans during the Vietnam War; that 72 million litres of toxic agents were sprayed on Vietnam causing serious injury to over two million people, including severe physical abnormality, cancer, paralysis, mental illness, miscarriages, natural abortions and still births; acknowledges that the effects of Agent Orange are long-term and passed on for generations; deplores the use of chemical weapons; vows to look at the lessons learnt from Vietnam regarding the use of these weapons; draws attention to the plight of third generation Vietnamese suffering the effects of Agent Orange; and calls on the British Government to press the US Government to compensate those affected by Agent Orange.

This motion has been signed by a total of 61 MPs, 4 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
