Fuel Poverty

EDM number 136 in 1999-00, proposed by David Chidgey on 02/12/1999.

That this House is appalled by recent claims that some eight million people in the UK live in such fuel poverty that their physical and mental health has significantly deteriorated, to the extent that up to 60,000 people in the UK die each year because they cannot heat their homes properly; and welcomes the 'Warm Homes Tour' and calls for the implementation of the recommendations set out in the Environmental Audit Committee's report, 'Energy Efficiency' as a matter of priority.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
