International Criminal Court

EDM number 192 in 1999-00, proposed by Jenny Tonge on 13/12/1999.

That this House congratulates Her Majesty's Government on its commitment to publish the draft legislation for ratifying the International Criminal Court Statute; recognises the leading role it took in the drawing up of this treaty; recognises the importance of a permanent international criminal court to complement the efforts of national courts in punishing those responsible for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes; welcomes the ratification by Senegal, Trinidad and Tobago, San Marino, Italy and Fiji; notes that France, Belgium and Germany are at an advanced stage in the ratification process; and urges it to consult widely amongst all interested parties and to ratify the treaty as soon as possible.

This motion has been signed by a total of 93 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
