Council Tax Banding

EDM number 284 in 2000-01, proposed by Jane Griffiths on 01/02/2001.

That this House notes that the valuation date for house prices used for council tax purposes is 1st April 1991, and that there has been significant movement in property prices since that date; and therefore recommends that the Government instructs the Valuation Office Agency to undertake a reform and revaluation of council tax banding and put in place arrangements for regular revaluations at not more than six yearly intervals.
