National Learning Disability Week

EDM number 1353 in 2002-03, proposed by Oliver Heald on 05/06/2003.

That this House notes the importance of National Learning Disability Week from 16th to 22nd June; believes that it provides a welcome opportunity to highlight the needs of people with learning difficulties and their families; acknowledges the report by the charity Mencap entitled Breaking Point launched during National Learning Disability Week showing that many families of people with learning difficulties are not receiving adequate support, in particular the concern that those who care for people with severe and profound disabilities are not receiving adequate respite care to enable them to take short breaks; and calls on the Government to take note of the concerns raised during National Learning Disability Week.

This motion has been signed by a total of 75 MPs.
