Third Party Appeals In The Planning System
EDM number 274 in 2002-03, proposed by Paul Truswell on 04/12/2002.
That this House regards the land use planning system as a vital part of local governance, and recognises that it plays a crucial role in delivering social renewal and environmental protection; firmly believes that democracy, public prticipation, and equity should be at the heart of planning reform; regrets that the planning process provides a right of appeal for developers denied planning permission, but affords no such right to communities affected by the granting of controversial planning applictions; and calls on the Government to introduce a qualified third party right of appeal in the planning system.
