National Memorial To The Evacuation Project
EDM number 100 in 2003-04, proposed by Teddy Taylor on 26/11/2003.
That this House notes that under Operation Pied Piper initiated on 31st August 1939, over three million British citizens, mainly children, were evacuated from their homes and families and taken to cities and towns at home and abroad that were not seen as likely targets for enemy bombings; regards the enterprise as one of the most significant and emotional times in Britain's history; and believes that there is a strong case for considering a national memorial to the evacuation and to those involved in the process.
