Equitable Life

EDM number 176 in 2003-04, proposed by Ian Gibson on 02/12/2003.

That this House believes a fair resolution to the Equitable Life debacle is important not only for current and former policyholders, but also to restore confidence in long term savings generally; believes that justice delayed is justice denied; calls on the Government to publish the report by Lord Penrose as soon as possible and to offer compensation if regulatory supervision is found to have been wanting; and calls once again for the Parliamentary Ombudsman immediately to investigate customer complaints relating to policies bought before 1999.

This motion has been signed by a total of 172 MPs.
