Prevention Of Bee Diseases

EDM number 594 in 2004-05, proposed by Paul Tyler on 26/01/2005.

That this House notes the enormous economic contribution made by bees through their pollination activity; deplores the Government's proposed cut to the Bee Health Programme at the National Bee Unit; believes that a saving to the Government of ú250,000 does not represent a sufficient return for the risk posed to bee health by the removal of varroosis and European foulbrood from the list of notifiable bee diseases and the reduction in the number of bee inspectors to identify this disease; and calls on the Government to review its decision.

This motion has been signed by a total of 38 MPs.
