Imprisonment Of Iranian Trade Union Leader

EDM number 1472 in 2005-06, proposed by John McDonnell on 24/01/2006.

That this House notes with concern that following a strike organised in December by the Vahed Bus Company Trade Union in Tehran, the Iranian regime arrested the strike committee and that Mr Mansour Ossanlou, the leader of the trade union, remains in custody; urges the Iranian government to release Mr Ossanlou; and calls upon the UK Government to press the Iranian government to respect trade union rights and International Labour Organisation conventions.
