Forensic Science Service

EDM number 981 in 2005-06, proposed by John McDonnell on 08/11/2005.

That this House welcomes the decision by the Government to convert the Forensic Science Service (FSS) into a wholly owned Government Company (GovCo) which comes into operation on 1st December; believes that the new GovCo should be given a period of at least two years to succeed before any decisions are taken about its future, have a fully funded pension scheme, and give new staff similar terms and conditions, so as not to set up a two-tier workforce; calls on the Government to address the concerns of the recognised trade unions; and urges the Government to bring any future plans for the FSS back to Parliament for proper scrutiny.

This motion has been signed by a total of 55 MPs.
