United Utilities Extra Charges

EDM number 2118 in 2007-08, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 21/07/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Postal services and Utilities.

That this House condemns United Utilities' decision to apply an extra £2.95 charge to customers wanting to pay their water bill at their local post office; is appalled at the decision that targets the elderly and vulnerable, those without internet access and ease of mobility and further demonstrates disregard for the value of the already at risk post office network; calls on United Utilities to curb their greed and recognise the social and financial impact their unjustifiable extra charges have on those being hit hardest by already spiralling living costs; and calls on Ofwat to investigate the unethical application of charges by the company that monopolises the market.

This motion has been signed by a total of 42 MPs.
