Religious Tolerance In India

EDM number 709 in 2007-08, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 16/01/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Asia, Crime, Crimes of violence and Religion and faith communities.

That this House notes with concern the report by the All India Catholic Union that highlighted 190 attacks on Christians in 2007; recognises that these attacks took the form of homicides, armed assaults, sexual harassment and lynchings; further notes that many of these attacks took place while people were worshipping within the privacy of their homes and churches; and calls on the Indian government to ensure that attacks based upon religious beliefs are stopped and religious tolerance is practised at all times.

This motion has been signed by a total of 55 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
