Afghan Police

EDM number 1858 in 2008-09, proposed by Paul Flynn on 13/07/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Afghanistan and Police.

That this House is deeply concerned at the evidence that the Karzai Afghan Police Force is deeply corrupt with a record of endemic heroin abuse, brutal extortion and sexual exploitation through the foul practice of bachabazi; and welcomes the independent journalism of Reuters in reporting the statement of an elder of the Helmand village Pankela that if the police were to return and behave in the same way, villagers would support the Taliban to drive them out.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
