Adult Protection Framework Legislation

That this House supports the call of Action on Elder Abuse, the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, the Association of Chief Police Officers, all police forces in England, the former regulators (the Commission for Social Care Inspection and the Healthcare Commission) and the current Care Quality Commission, the Law Society, the Local Government Association, the Alzheimer's Society, Counsel and Care, Mencap, the Down's Syndrome Association, Voice UK, Scope, the National Autistic Society, Sense and Age Concern/Help the Aged for the establishment of adult protection framework legislation; notes that this is different from the intervention legislation that provides powers to intervene in the lives of adults; and calls on the Government to establish an immediate timescale for the introduction of such framework legislation.
