Attacks On Journalists In Pakistan

That this House condemns the recent murderous attack on journalists by unknown armed gunmen in Pakistan including the recent brutal killing of Maulana Iftikhar Ahmed Habibi, the renowned scholar and leader of Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat-Noorani province and regular Islamic commentator on Pakistan TV; and calls for the British Government to urge the Pakistan government to do all it can to catch and punish the perpetrators of these attacks, to devise a strategy and policy to ensure journalists' safety and to protect essential freedoms of the press in a democratic society.
