EDM number 977 in 2008-09, proposed by Virendra Kumar Sharma on 04/03/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Asia, Sports and Terrorism.

That this House condemns the murderous attacks on the Sri Lanka cricket team and match officials by unknown armed gunmen in Lahore, Pakistan on 2 March 2009 that left six policemen and the driver of one of the buses in the team's convoy dead and seven players and officials injured; expresses sincere condolences to all those affected by these vicious attacks on innocent civilians; further condemns the targeting of cricket, a unifying and peaceful force in Pakistan, by the perpetrators; and calls for the Government to work with the Pakistan government to do all it can to catch and punish the perpetrators of these attacks and to devise a strategy to ensure that at some point in the future cricket can again be played in Pakistan without fear of terrorist attack.
